Large-eddy lattice-Boltzmann modeling of transonic flows

A D3Q19 hybrid recursive regularized pressure based lattice-Boltzmann method (HRR-P LBM) is assessed for the simulation of complex transonic flows. Mass and momentum conservation equations are resolved through a classical LBM solver coupled with finite volume resolution entropy equation complete compressible preserving stability, accuracy, computational costs. An efficient treatment wall open boundaries grid refinement technique extended to HRR-P in scope aerodynamics. Vreman subgrid turbulence model an improved coupling immersed boundary on Cartesian accounts unresolved scales by large-eddy simulation. The validity present applications investigated various test cases increasing complexity starting from inviscid flow over 10% bump ending turbulent ONERA M6 three-dimensional wing.
